I didn’t book my airport transfer.
I made a small mistake before my trip to Rovinj.
At the time, I didn’t think it was a big deal. I hadn’t decided yet whether I would rent a car or use public transport, so I thought it would be better to wait and decide when I arrived in Istria.
That sounded like a good plan.
It wasn’t.
I Didn’t Think About the Old Town
I was staying in an apartment in Rovinj Old Town.
Of course, I knew the Old Town was historic and that the streets were narrow and mostly pedestrian, but I didn’t really think about what that meant when arriving with luggage.
You can’t just drive to the front door of every apartment in the Old Town.
Still, I wasn’t too worried.
My plan was to figure everything out when I landed at Pula Airport.
Then my flight was delayed.
My Flight to Pula Was Delayed
By the time I finally arrived at Pula Airport, it was already quite late. I checked the public transport options, but there were no buses that worked for me anymore.
And, to be honest, even if I had managed to take a bus, I would still have had to get from the bus stop to my apartment in Rovinj.
After travelling all day, that wasn’t exactly what I wanted.
So I decided to take a taxi.
I Took the First Taxi at Pula Airport
There were taxis waiting outside the airport, so I simply took the first one available.
I didn’t compare prices.
I didn’t search for reviews.
I didn’t ask how much a taxi from Pula Airport to Rovinj normally costs.
I just wanted to get to my apartment.
The journey itself was fine.
But when we arrived in Rovinj, the driver couldn’t take me directly to my apartment because it was inside the pedestrian area.
So I was dropped off outside the Old Town.
Then I had to walk for about 20 minutes with my luggage.
It wasn’t the end of the world. Rovinj is beautiful, even at night.
But after a delayed flight and a long day of travelling, walking around with suitcases looking for an apartment wasn’t exactly how I imagined my arrival.
And then came the part I really didn’t like.
The Taxi Price
When it was time to pay, I was honestly shocked by the price.
I had that feeling that I had just paid far more than I should have.
Maybe I should have asked about the price before getting into the taxi.
Maybe I should have done some research.
But that’s exactly the problem.
When you arrive late at an airport in another country, tired and with luggage, you don’t always think about these things.
You just want to get to your accommodation.
I paid and went to my apartment, but I kept thinking about it.
There must be a better way to get from Pula Airport to Rovinj.
The Next Day I Started Looking
The next morning I searched online for a reliable Rovinj airport transfer.
This time I wanted to know the price before booking.
I also wanted a comfortable car and a driver who actually knew the area.
That’s when I found Nautilus.
I contacted them and asked about a transfer from Pula Airport to Rovinj.
The response was quick and, most importantly, they gave me a clear price.
When I compared it with what I had paid for the taxi the night before, I was surprised.
It was around 40% less.
So I booked the transfer.
The Difference Was Huge
The next journey was exactly what I had hoped for in the first place.
The vehicle was comfortable and clean.
The driver was friendly and professional.
Everything was organised.
And I knew the price before getting into the car.
That last part made a bigger difference than I expected.
There was no wondering how much the journey would cost when we arrived.
No negotiating.
No unpleasant surprise.
Just a straightforward Pula Airport to Rovinj transfer.
After my experience the previous night, I really appreciated that.
What I Would Do Next Time
If I travel to Rovinj again, I won’t make the same mistake.
I’ll book my airport transfer before I leave home.
Especially if I’m staying in Rovinj Old Town.
If you are flying into Pula and staying in Rovinj, it is worth thinking about your transfer before you arrive.
You might decide to rent a car. You might decide to take public transport.
But if you know you want a private transfer, booking it in advance means one less thing to worry about.
Your flight can be delayed.
You can arrive late.
You can have luggage.
And you might discover that your accommodation is somewhere cars can’t easily reach.
In my case, waiting until I arrived meant taking the first taxi available and paying much more than I expected.
The next day, I found a better option.
And that’s probably the main lesson I took from the whole experience:
Don’t wait until you land at Pula Airport to figure out how you’re going to get to Rovinj.
A few minutes spent booking your Pula Airport to Rovinj transfer before the trip can save you money, time and quite a bit of stress.

If you’re planning a trip to Rovinj, you can book your private transfer from Pula Airport to Rovinj in advance and know your transfer price before you arrive.
